In John 14:15-31 we are to understand that a life seeking to be satisfied by the world will die of thirst, for the world cannot remotely compete with the Spirit-filled life in Christ. There is no competition. Just as a sickly, toothless, claw-less rabbit on her death bed cannot begin to contend with a hungry and healthy lion in her den, so is the world’s abilities in relation to the Spirit’s. In light of this, why waste your time with the world?
